APS Bond Projects Underway

Bond-funded construction is underway at several APS schools over the summer.

In addition to building renewal improvements at 14 schools, bond projects slated for completion in August include:

Aurora Central High School—new health sciences classroom addition
Columbia Middle School—heating, air conditioning and mechanical repairs
Vista PEAK P-8—a 1,022-student preschool-through-eighth grade school on the new P-20 Campus

New construction projects that will continue into the 2010-11 school year include:

Aurora Hills Middle School replacement building (opening in January 2012)
Meadowood Child Development Center (opening in August 2011)
Vista PEAK high school (opening in August 2011)

Vista PEAK P-8 Exploratory School will also serve 9th-grade students when it opens in August. Vista PEAK Preparatory, a 1,350-student high school, will serve 9^th and 10^th grade students in its opening year (2011-12). The school will add 11^th and 12^th grades in the following two years.

Vista PEAK will provide a seamless educational experience from preschool through high school in addition to offering postsecondary learning opportunities. Students will participate in a variety of career pathways and partnerships with local colleges and businesses.

Meadowood Child Development Center Community Meeting

Please join us at a community meeting to learn more about construction plans for the Meadowood Child Development Center. The center will be located on South Norfolk Way and will serve approximately 250 to 300 preschool students. Aurora Public Schools staff will share information about the construction project and preschool program planned for the new center.

Aurora Hills Middle School Bond Project Community Meeting

In November 2008 Aurora voters approved a $215 million bond issue to fund building and technology improvements throughout the district. The bond construction program will provide approximately $201 million for building improvements and nearly $14 million for technology. Construction will be completed over a five-year period, beginning in 2009 and ending in 2013.
