Aurora Public Schools is currently building a new P-20 educational campus in the eastern part of the district, named Vista PEAK. The campus will include a high school (Vista PEAK Preparatory) and preschool-to-eighth grade school (Vista PEAK Exploratory). The high school site is located at 6th Ave. and Harvest Rd. The preschool-to-eighth grade school site is near the future intersection of the extension of 1st Ave. and Harvest Rd. The site plan has been developed with the potential to add a community college in the future.
This concept matches the State of Colorado's goal to prepare students for success in college and careers. The Vista PEAK Campus reflects the educational philosophy of the district's strategic plan, VISTA 2010, the Colorado Achievement Plan for Kids, the Governor's P-20 Council and the Colorado Department of Education's strategic plan, Forward Thinking.
The Vista PEAK Exploratory (P-8) School will open in August 2010 and include ninth grade during the first year. The Vista PEAK Preparatory School (high school) will open in August 2011 with ninth and tenth grades. The Vista PEAK Preparatory School will add 11th grade in 2012 and 12th grade in 2013.
